Kate Stevens is a woman on a mission. She’s determined to find a father for her soon-to-be-born baby. She’s looking for a dependable, stable, stay-at-home family guy who won’t be away more than home. Anyone named Patrick Berznai need not apply. It really doesn’t matter that Patrick is the biological father, he’s too busy sailing every time the wind blows and is not suitable.
Patrick returns from a three month sailing race and can’t wait to get back to Kate. He wants to pick up where they left off—and is willing to be the baby’s father. How can he ever convince Kate that just because he sails doesn’t mean he can’t be a husband and father, too?
Two determined people, both with quick tempers make the sparks fly at every turn. With Kate’s aunt aiding and abetting the father, Patrick hopes he has a chance. However, when everything he tries always ends up wrong, we start to wonder if he’s fit to father after all.
A delightful diversion that showcases author Lisa Ruff’s knowledge of the sea and gives us land lovers insight into their passion for sailing. I loved the quick wit of the characters and some of their snappy come-backs and retorts. For me, it was wonderful to read about summer on the sea while stuck in the middle of a Midwestern blizzard. Baby on Board was just the treat I needed to while away a dreary day.
