Charity Bloom is the talk of Humble since she was left at the altar by her intended Daniel and her best friend Emmy ran after him; right there in the middle of the ceremony. Charity is hurt beyond belief but determined to try and put this disaster behind her.

Since the recent oil boom in the area, strangers seeking work are flooding Humble. Buddy Pierce is one of those men. Looking for a place to stay, he runs into Charity, (or she runs into him) and discovers that the Blooms may be his only hope for a room. It’s what he finds when he gets to the Bloom place that has him chomping at the bit to start drilling.

Buddy convinces the Blooms that they may be sitting on some black gold and quickly starts drilling for oil. With his close contact with Charity it doesn’t take him long to discover just how lovely she is and his feelings quickly grow. Charity’s feelings are also growing for Buddy; as Daniel destroyed any love she had for him on their wedding day. The problems start when Buddy strikes it big and has to leave town to get their oil to the refinery.

Striking it rich can change folks (not necessarily the Blooms). Soon circumstances evolve that cause Charity, in desperation, to convince Daniel that they should be married. After all, he’s dumped Emmy and has been after Charity to forgive him. But can Charity go through with this "marriage of convenience", sacrificing the love of her life for her mama’s sake?

Will Charity be able to sacrifice her love for Buddy and leave things in God’s hands? Will Buddy find his way back to Charity in time to save her from a loveless marriage? Will Charity be able to forgive Emmy as God so readily forgives us?

Chasing Charity is a story of love as "Charity-from-the Bible" will touch your heart and stir your thoughts. It’s a story of sacrifice and forgiveness and we’re reminded that none of us deserves forgiveness. Charity and Buddy will remind you that God will if you ask.

Marcia Gruver’s second story has taken the next step in the series. The characters have depth and Ms Gruver keeps them human. There is just enough detail to the story that allows this book to stand alone. I recommend reading Diamond Duo (the first book in the series) first to give you some background. Will Emmy be our next heroine to come into a "Texas Fortune"?
