Her relationships with men never seemed to turn out too well. Macy Tucker’s fine with that. Nothing wrong with leading a celibate life, forging ahead with obtaining a law degree, being her mother’s shoulder to cry on (two tissue limit), and being angry with all the men who’ve let her down.

Anger doesn’t even begin to cover the array of feelings churning inside her at the news of a prison break that included one casualty and one fatality; an escape that involved her brother, Billy. That’s plenty to deal with, but when sexy Sgt. Jake Baldwin takes it upon himself to guard her, follow her, and issue orders, she doesn’t’ take too kindly to him.

Jake has a personal interest in this case (aside from his off the charts attraction to Macy). He put away one of the men who escaped from prison. Tucks is dangerous. He has an agenda which includes Macy. Jake won’t rest until he tracks him down and puts him away. Again. For good. And he needs to bring Billy in safely, for Macy. If she would only cooperate, if she didn’t drive him to distraction. If only he didn’t gravitate toward her and her nutty family.

She’s got to save her baby brother. When she can finagle it Macy takes things in her own hands, causing Jake boatloads grief. It doesn’t matter to her whether she’s helping or hindering or putting herself in danger, what if she finds something vital to lead them to Tucks, to getting Billy back safe? She'd never forgive herself if something happened to Billy.

He wants everyone safe, including Billy. It’s hard to make that happen when Jake has to keep one eye on Macy and the other on Tucks trail. The FBI sure isn’t on the ball. Ultimately there are some screw-ups. Frustrating as it is, he can’t seem to keep a handle on the situation. It doesn’t help that he’s hardly ever clear-headed around Macy. He’s missing something…something important. Hopefully no one will get hurt or killed before he finds out what that is. And it may be more than what he was looking for.

As I was reading I wasn’t quite sure how much I liked Gotcha!, but as I continued to turn page after page, it dawned on me; Ms. Craig had my attention. I mean if I was displaying a strong and varied range of aggravation, frustration, and empathy regarding characters (primarily Macy) behavior and anticipation regarding the direction of the plot, then she did her job.

Ms. Craig’s work has always held a balance of wit (which I usually prefer), mystery, sexual tension, and drama, however, I felt the scale was tipped with Gotcha!. Yes, there was comic relief. The sexual tension was hot and heavy. However, it was the tone of the story/plot, the intensity that was so thick you couldn’t help but feel it. In this reader's opinion, that’s what tipped the scales.

She can do witty, she can do drama, she can do sexy, she can also do serious suspense...obviously Ms. Craig has only just tapped into her talent.
