Dear Readers:

How do you stop a killer you can’t see? That’s the tag line of this next Nancy Bush offering. I have to tell you all, I love mysteries. I love the handsome detectives and the strange stories set in small-town America. They’re my cup of tea. I’ve noticed lately, though, that the story plots are becoming easier and easier to figure out. The mystery is no longer a mystery. Why? Because, unfortunately, someone already wrote it.

In this instance we are dealing with a woman by the name of Gemma; who lives in a place called, "The Quarry." What we know of Gemma is that she was abandoned on a ferry when she was an infant and was adopted by a couple to raise in the small town. Her father and mother did a lot of fighting and squabbling over their land with the neighbors, who still believe that Gemma‘s land is their land. Generational fights have been going on for centuries. In addition, Gemma’s mother was the local town psychic. Or was she?

We soon find out that Gemma’s adoptive mother was a fraud. It’s Gemma who has the real ability to read "emotions" in people and know inherently when strangers are up to no good. Soon people are disappearing. Pedophiles are being killed, run over, thrown off cliffs - which, frankly, is fine with me. All of them should be destroyed as far as I’m concerned. But then women begin to show up, victimized and set on fire around the local communities. Gemma, herself, walks into the hospital one night, completely banged up, and wakes up in the morning with horrible bruises and no memory of what happened. Perhaps she is the murderer who is ridding the world of icky people?

Well, Will Tanniger, the local cop, is the man to find out what the heck is going on out there. He follows leads, falls in love with the murder suspect, and works his way through strange clues, a mystery from fifty years ago, and a fountain of psychobabble. This guy needs some time off.

You will enjoy this. There is no way not to. The writer, as always, delves into a plot with so many red herrings you will cling on to every word. The only unfortunate part is that Mary Higgins Clark did many of these plots before…and she was REALLY good at it.

Until Next Time, Amy
